being held on Saturday, September 11th for women of all ages who are
interested in singing. Join the Women
of Note Chorus at a Sweet Adeline’s International regional event designed to
provide singers with a day packed full of instruction in a cappella, 4-part harmony, vocal production techniques taught by
an accredited Sweet Adelines educator, tools for self-evaluation, and lots of
singing and fun! Participants will
learn a new song with choreography and perform on stage with 200+ other
women. You and your friends will also
be entertained by area quartets and choruses.

The Women of Note
chorus meets every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Boynton Beach Community High
School for singing, socializing and learning advanced techniques for a cappella ensemble performance.
Boynton Beach, Florida, April 8, 2009 – The Women of Note Chorus returned victorious once again from the regional Sweet Adelines International chorus competition in Daytona Beach, winning TWO medals for the SIXTH year in a row. This exceptional women’s a cappella barbershop chorus, with 36 members on stage and competing against choruses 2-3 times it’s size, excelled with another marvelous performance, capturing FIRST PLACE in the regional mid-size chorus division and fourth overall.
The Women of Note have already had a busy first few months of 2009. Along with preparing for competition, the chorus appeared on the CBS 12 Daybreak Show in February, sang the “National Anthem” at Roger Dean Stadium on March 9, and entertained audiences throughout South Florida with a number of private and public performances. Upcoming, The Women of Note will be volunteering at SunFest this spring and Clematis By Night in December in addition to scheduled performances and preparations for their annual show in December.
The award-winning Women of Note Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a nonprofit music education association for women. Made up of teachers, nurses, lawyers, legal assistants, bookkeepers, artists, and homemakers, among others, the Women of Note have been delighting audiences with beautiful 4-part a cappella harmony, innovative choreography and dazzling costumes since it’s inception in 1996.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: 2009 RISING STAR SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST

Florida’s award-winning a cappella chorus, sponsored the “2009 Rising Star Vocal Scholarship
Competition”
for young women high school students. Cash scholarships were presented
to SIX finalists who were featured as soloists on stage with the Women
of Note on December 12 at the Eissey Theatre at Palm Beach Community
College in Palm Beach Gardens.

FOUNDING DIRECTOR GOING OUT ON A HIGH NOTE
Boynton
Beach, Florida, March 15, 2010 – The Women of Note Chorus has announced
the retirement of musical and artistic director, Holly St. John. Ms.
St. John is the founding director of the Women of Note, an exceptional
women’s a cappella barbershop chorus that was founded in 1996. The
Women of Note Chorus has been entertaining South Florida audiences with
their beautiful a cappella four-part harmony, innovative choreography
and dazzling costumes since its inception. Under Ms. St. John’s
direction, the chorus has earned several 1st place medals in their
division in regional competition as well as the distinction of World’s
Best Small Chorus in 2005.
Ms. St. John has been a member of
Sweet Adelines International for more than 35 years, has directed three
award-winning choruses, including the Women of Note, and has achieved
the status of Master Director in the Sweet Adelines International
organization. Ms. St. John is a highly respected music educator, chorus
and quartet coach, and works with voice students privately. She
currently serves on the education faculty for Region #9 and as a mentor
to other chorus directors in the organization.
“The chorus is
flourishing both musically and in membership; it’s the perfect time to
turn over the reins to a new pair of hands who will challenge and
motivate this incredible chorus to even greater achievements in the
next decade,” Ms. St. John recently stated. She continued, “It’s my
intention to continue as a teacher, coach and mentor in the regional
and international programs to which I am committed. Other than that, I
have no plans to do anything but enjoy some long-overdue time off.” Ms.
St. John will lead the chorus through their 14th regional competition
in April where she plans to “…go out on a high note and high score.”
