New to the exciting world of Sweet Adelines, but not
to the American musical artform of barbershop singing, Mr. Greenberg has been
an active barbershopper since 1994, singing in various quartets and choruses.
His quartet HotShots, was the 2006 BHS Sunshine District Champion and 3-time
International Competitor, placing 20th in their last appearance in 2008. In
2006, he directed the Palm Beach Coastmen chorus taking them through several
successful contests and shows. Mr. Greenberg has held many leadership
positions in South Florida choruses as well as VP of Marketing
and PR with the Sunshine District.
Mr. Greenberg brings a new energy and enthusiasm to
this motivated group of women. “We will continue to be a force in Region 9,
with our musical excellence, exciting showmanship and creativity”, Mr.
Greenberg stated in an interview.
He and his wife Stacy have two children and Mr.
Greenberg acknowledged that he “can't wait to teach them how to sing tags in
hotel lobbies into the wee small hours of the evening.” By day, Mr. Greenberg
is in manufacturing sales and has a degree in Communication from Ball State
University. He minored in French, but hardly uses it except
to converse with Canadian tourists.
Lisa Lupo, Associate Director
Lisa began her musical
journey playing organ and piano around age six. By middle school, she
discovered choral singing, and remained an active choral singer throughout high
school, performing in various vocal ensembles and musicals. She also enjoyed a
capella singing in her church.
One day, a member of her church who was a
barbershopper heard her sing and advised her to check into Sweet Adelines. In
1990, she attended her first barbershop rehearsal with the Royal Palm Chorus.
Lisa was hooked by the lock and ring sound and became an active member of the
chorus as a member of the music and administrative team and later as lead
section leader. She went on to become a charter member of the Women
of Note Chorus in 1996, where she served as the riser chairman
and baritone section leader.
Lisa’s love for teaching music led her
to take a sabbatical from Sweet Adelines, during which she completed Bachelor
of Arts degree in music, with an emphasis on Music Education and voice.
She returned to barbershop as the lead in Odyssey, where her quartet finished
second place in their first regional competition. Lisa returned home to the
Women of Note in 2009, where she now sings lead and happily serves as a member
of the directing staff, of the music team and as lead section teacher.
Debbie Edwards, Assistant Director
An avid barbershop student and participant, Debbie has been a Sweet
Adeline and a Women of Note since 1999.
Playing daytime nanny and taxi driver for any one or a number of her six
grandchildren and their friends, Debbie is a retired financial auditor and
full-time barbershop hobbyist.
Most of her evenings revolve around that "one night a week"
barbershop addiction. She currently holds positions in the chorus as an
assistant director, baritone section teacher and quartet promotions chair. This year she is also serving as the administrative assistant to the director. She aspires to be an
Expression Judge and is enrolled in the Director Certification Program.
Debbie has sung and performed in as many quartets as have asked her and
has competed and medaled in two quartets since her momentous introduction to
this art form. She currently sings with two registered quartets, as tenor
in Jammin’ JazzBaris! and as baritone
with Sunsation and looks forward to
ringing chords for all of her life!
The Women of Note Chorus is a progressive organization managed by a Leadership Team. Their responsibility is to provide administrative and project support so that the musical programs can go forth unimpeded. All of the work accomplished by the Leadership Team is done outside of, and in addition to, rehearsals and performances.
